Gen 4 Chapter 21: Kiss kiss... gone

So now that things are back to normal, sort of, I guess, I thought I'd try something new!

I'm going to be a sculptor! Can you imagine the beautiful things I'll be able to make?

I started with a block of clay. It seemed like a good place to start.

The big, strong block of clay made me think of Blu, so I decided to invite him over.

Screenshot-62

It put on my new dress, but it was late and Blu wouldn't even come in the house. He was worried about my Mom finding out he was there. I'm an adult, I'm allowed to have people over! I mean, look at Puzzle and Sebastian! They have each other over all the time!

Plus, he couldn't see my pretty new dress very well in the dark.

Then Blu said that he was tired and it was late and that he should probably go. He'd just barely even got here! He really should have agreed to come over the first time I called him rather than making me wait 3 more hours to get him to come over. I wonder what he was doing, anyway.

Screenshot-68

Either way, he wasn't getting away so quick again! I wanted to kiss him and he was just going to have to hold still and let me do it!

Screenshot-69

And then he was gone. Sigh.

Screenshot-70

Well, back to sculpting!

Screenshot-74

It took me all night, but I made a chair! A real live chair that you can actually sit on!

Well, maybe not "you", but I can!

*************
A/N: And then, I got a message that Blu was dating Elphie Green (a sim I created for Moonlight Falls, but I don't remember dropping her in Lunar Lakes)! That's messed up! My game's relationships are obviously in need of some help. I'm going to have to fix those if I want Ariel and Blu together... and I totally do! Plus, she wants him, so it even follows the rules of the wishacy. Her wish to take up sculpting came out of nowhere. She seems to be happy with it, though.

Outtakes!

The cats are being weird, too. Rylee is walking through doors.

Dink and Mittens got stuck in the floor.

But at least someone is taking Ariel's water-hazard warnings seriously!

  1. At least Ariel got a kiss in!

As far as I'm concerned, no challenge rules ban you from fixing glitches. Did you use MasterController to fix Sebastian and Puzzle's relationship?

Did the message about Elphie say that they were going steady or just that they were "commenting on each other's mad kissing skills" or somesuch? If it's the latter, then they just went on the date, and Blu is not committed. But if it said something about taking things to the next level, making a commitment, or going steady, then she's his girlfriend.

I've never done anything with sculpting. I didn't know you could make a useful object. Then again, a chair made out of clay??

    1. I was so worried that Blu was going to get away again! I was happy that he seemed to be ok with Ariel kissing him.

I don't remember exactly what the message said. Something about them hitting it off, I think. I don't think it was a commitment or anything. I'll have to check on that. At least I know now that I have to make him break it off if he and Ariel get married so I don't end up with the horrible cheating issue!

I haven't fixed Puzzle and Sebastian yet, either. I spent my Sim time this week trying to get wings on Diana (spoiler alert, it didn't work), but I'm going to try and fix them the next chance I get to play.

I thought the clay chair was weird, too, and I haven't had anyone sit in it yet... but I clicked on it long enough to see that the option to sit is there! For some reason, sculpting seems like a natural choice for Ariel.

    2. Bleargh. I'm curious to read a rant of yours about the friggin' wings.

If I can get my energy up, I am going to write up my entire quest to solve the Error 12 crashes with the Samples with a bunch of keywords in the title with the hope that Google will index it for other poor frustrated Mac users.

The short version is that serious playing of the Samples may have to wait until I've upgraded the memory on my computer so I can switch to running the game in Windows. The Mac version can't access as much memory as the Windows version, and this didn't become an issue until I installed the last three expansions and stuffed the game full of store content from Cyber Monday at approximately the same time. It doesn't appear to be an issue with the IBSI because the safe file is drastically smaller. This is partly because it's a brand new game, but Avalon is decked out with more than the recommended terrain paints and sports a larger total population that all have custom nondefault skins. All of those things probably contribute to memory usage.

Figuring this out, however, took me down into the depths of Mac-to-Windows emulation and 32-vs-64 bit applications on the two platforms. I may have nightmares.

    3. But then again, I have already played the Samples enough to have a backlog of posts in Avalon. I doubt you guys will notice any gap :).

    4. That's the short version?! Scary! I showed your comment to techie Hubby and he said "wow!" and then laughed maniacally when he read your comment about having nightmares. I hope it gets sorted quickly, though I'm happy to hear that it won't affect my reading enjoyment...

    5. Dude. That's the short-short version.

I feel much better. My only other option was to pack the Samples up and move them to a new town, and they just GOT to !@#$ Avalon.

    6. Oh no! They shouldn't move again. I am in awe of your computer skills, you know.

    7. I hope sims issues aren't catching... lol, just kidding. It seems like a pandemic, though! But, now I know that if I ever have issues with my game not running, I know who to ask for help, lol.

    8. Ha! Please do bright me your game troubles. I have never wanted to be other people's tech support more than after six months as a full-time mom. Not that I don't love it, but it uses a different part of the brain, you know?

Not that I'm wishing you to have game troubles. This one had me seriously thinking about throwing in the towel. I mean, if you start to measure a fun-to-headache ratio and the headache is winning, maybe you have the wrong hobby. But instead I have a bona-fide excuse to buy 8G of RAM for my computer. Who can complain about that?

    9. BRING, dang it. I'm better than autocorrect tonight.

And thanks for the compliment, DragonWife. Your hubbie and I would probably sit down and have good times :) :).

    10. Yep. Between obscure computer humor (to the rest of us, anyway) and Dr. Who? You'd get along famously!

  2. Hmmm, Blue seems to be playing hard to get, doesn't he know that he can't get away? :D

I love sculpting! I've probably had more sculptors than anything else in my game. I hope she enjoys scupting, too. :)

    1. I know. Blu should just accept his destiny as legacy spouse. Or at least, DNA donation.

So far, she loves sculpting! I was pretty excited about it since I've never had a sculptor. It really does suit her.

  3. This is too weird. Hopefully you can figure out how to save Ariel's and Blu's relationship. Him somehow dating another woman is not good - right now I am drawing a blank, are Ariel and Blu officially in a relationship? If so, she might at some point be jealous because of him having an affair or something. You know, that whole cheating thing. Hopefully this won't happen!

    1. They aren't officially in a relationship, mostly because they couldn't interact there for awhile! I think I should be able to straighten them out, though. It will just take a little concentrated effort. I should have her ask him (again) if he's in a relationship, though, to see if his answer has changed!

  4. Yay!! My first "catch up" done! I love Ariel and her voice, so funny and casual and quirky! I certainly hope she's able to snatch Blu away from that harlot!!

    1. Ooooh! "Harlot"! I like it, I'm totally going to use that term in the story, if the situation calls for it.

  5. No Blu ... Bad sim getting another girlfriend when you've got Ariel!!! :(

Speaking of Ariel, the sculpting career really seems to suit her personality so I'm glad she rolled that wish. Now she just has to steal her man back and she's all set.

    1. Blu needs to get his act together, that's for sure!

I've never had a sculptor, but it really does suit Ariel. I can't wait to see the things she makes.
