Gen 2 Chapter 6: The arrival of Glitch

In preparation of the newest little one, I spent a lot of quality time with Bonni trying to teach her everything she needs to know.

Unfortunately, I didn't quite make it.

Luckily, Kevin was able to finish up potty training while I was in labor!

I was glad that Bonni is too young to understand and that Zeke was off playing outside the bookstore because...

... their new baby sister was not entirely normal. Not knowing quite what was going on or what we were in for, we nonetheless welcomed "Glitch" into our family.

I tried to keep things as normal as possible for the older kids, but taking care of a nearly invisible infant was really wearing Kevin and me down! We weren't sure where her mouth even was, not to mention trying to find diapers when it was time to change them or figuring out which end to snuggle!

I had to get away for awhile so I went out with my brother and sister, but then some random townie named Jaron died right there in front of us and the outing was less fun after that.

I even visited one of my favorite restaurants, but all I could think of was my little Glitch. She needed me! We would just have to figure out how to make things work.

Kevin, on the other hand, spent so much time trying to figure out which end was up that he forgot to take care of himself.

After my realization, Kevin and I had a serious talk about the sometimes-invisible Glitch. We had to let go of our preconceived notions about how this was supposed to go and embrace the differences in our child. To start, we finally started calling her by her given name: Lorali.

When it was time for Lorali's birthday, I proudly brought my youngest daughter to blow out the candles.

We watched anxiously, unsure of what would happen now.

She would have been beautiful to us any way, but I can't say I wasn't relieved when Lorali aged into a visible toddler.

And Kevin finally shared some news with me that he'd been keeping to himself since the day Lorali was born... he got a promotion! Life is weird sometimes, but life is good.

***************
A/N: That was crazy! Everyone in the house was running red the entire time Lorali was a baby! I'm including a couple of outtakes of Lorali's glitch below, but I'm glad that I stuck it out until she reached toddlerhood and I could change her clothes (that seemed to be the root of most of the dysmorphic traits). I almost went back to a previous save. Needless to say, I've ditched a lot of the custom content I got off of the exchange. I'm not sure exactly
what caused this, but it was way too hard to take care of an invisible baby!

  1. That is possibly the most awesome Simfail I have ever seen. (And I have some good ones of my own to post when I get a chance.) I'm SO glad the age-up fixed it!

  2. It was seriously crazy. I took a huge leap of faith in letting it play out... so stressful for all of us!

  3. Ahh no! I actually happened to look at a thread on these glitches that listed bad CC on the Sims 3 website yesterday, but now I can't find it. Anyway, the thread said that it's caused by CC creators categorising adult clothing for all ages... So like maybe check there is no adult shoes in the toddler category for example. Hope it doesn't happen again :)

I liked your way of working the glitch into the story. Creative!

  4. That is really weird...still I had to laugh really hard about how you described that.
I am soo glad that she finally became visible. And it's cute that they would loved her any way, but I think this way is much easier...
    Weird. So weird.

  5. @Courtney- I suspected that it had to be something like that, but I've never paid any real attention to those details... I assumed that the creators would set it up properly. I've learned my lesson!

@amhranai- I was really happy that we could see more consistently once she aged up. It was so hard to figure out where to click when she was invisible!

  6. Oh my!! Those will make for some interesting baby pictures for "Glitch" to look back on! I'm glad you stuck with it, I'm sure I would have reverted to a past save! I'm sure she'll grow up to be beautiful! =)

  7. What a strange glitch! Poor little invisible Lorelai ... I'm glad she, er, grew out of her disability in her toddler years!

    1. I love the Lorali glitch. As scary as it was at the time, it played out very well!

  8. Lord, I hate those glitchy CC things. I noticed a few chapters ago one of your male party guests during the first generation had on some dark shorts with a little strip of white showing at the top, I got those when I innocently downloaded a sim with them attached. My sims showered with them on, and after 3 days of trying to get rid of them I gave up and made a brand new sim folder in documents and started over. I obsessively check and double-check every single thing I download now. I trust no one. :(

Glad she 'outgrowed' it, since once you could change her clothes it fixed it.

    *Onwards...*

    1. Custom Content really is a blessing and a curse! This was pretty extreme, though.

I've never been very successful at getting rid of CC, either. It's way too sneaky!
