Trixi here!
Things have been pretty interesting around here now that VJ is preparing for his big move into the "evil" track of his career. He decided to practice first on Neli!
It's been awhile since he's had that urge to steal candy from the kids, but I guess he couldn't hold it in any longer. Poor Neli didn't know what to think.
And, of course, it was time for VJ to go to work right after that so it was left to me to comfort our girl and reassure her that Daddy didn't really mean to make her cry.
Even evil-doers have a conscious though (sometimes, anyway) and VJ went right up to apologize to Neli as soon as he got home. I'm not sure he was actually sorry or anything, but at least he could see that she needed him to comfort her.
He really does love Neli and wants to see her grow up well, though, so he got right to work on teaching her last toddler skill. Neli is a fast learner and she was potty trained in no time!
Apparently, VJ hadn't gotten all of the evil out of his system since he decided that it would be a good idea to make fun of me! I was so humiliated and angry with him. I'm trying to be supportive, but it's had to accept the evil side of him sometimes!
To his credit, VJ usually realizes when he's gone too far and does try to apologize right away. I'm just not sure I'm in the mood to forgive him.
Unfortunately, I'm just as much of a sucker for his charm as our daughter and I soon let him weasel his way back into my good graces.
I just can't believe that I fall for it every time!
All too soon, my maternity leave was over and it was time to head back to the diner. I wish I could afford to quit my job, but it will probably take a few more promotions on VJ's part to get to that point. Fortunately, Renaldo is a fabulous babysitter and the kids adore him. It's nice to know that they're in good hands while I'm at work.
I also found out that he's read my book "Bite Me" and that he loved it!
Since the kids were sound asleep when I got home from my first day back at work, I decided to relax and work on my painting while I waited for VJ to get home.
What I didn't know at the time was that VJ wouldn't be home... he'd been arrested and sent to jail!
********************
A/N: Poor VJ! He was exhausted and starving when he got arrested... I wonder if he gets to sleep in jail. And little Fiona wasn't even in this chapter. Hmmm... I wonder if that means my story isn't moving fast enough...

Gen 1 Chapter 13: And then there were four.
Trixi here!
Now, where was I? Oh yes... surprise labor! Since it was kind of a surprise pregnancy, I suppose that makes sense. So there I was, all alone with Neli while VJ worked overtime sucking up to the boss...
And I hadn't had a shower in days so I was a little ripe. Guess that will have to wait, too!
Luckily, Neli wasn't so hungry for breakfast that she minded amusing herself for a few hours while we waited for her sibling to arrive.
And, after a couple of hours of labor... Fiona entered the world!
I'm so thrilled to have another little girl! It almost makes me forget all of the pain and discomfort. But not quite.
Isn't she beautiful?
VJ, having no idea that the blessed event happened in his absence (again), took his sweet time getting home from work. He even stopped to read a book! I know he thought we were having a regular day at home, but honestly! He had a pregnant wife and a toddler at home!
Of course, the first thing VJ did when he finally did come home was go meet his new daughter.
He really loves having new playmates.
He was so impressed by Fiona, that he went straight into the bathroom to congratulate himself. Like I had nothing to do with it. You'd think I'd get at least a little credit. Or maybe that's just the hormones talking... probably, since VJ told me later that he'd also earned his promotion at work! He's a "Bagman" now and got a bonus (which will help offset what we paid out for the remodel!) and a raise. A few more of those and I'll be able to quit my job and stay home with the kids while I work on my writing! I guess I can forgive him a little self-congratulations, he did have a very good night.
After that, I settled into a schedule of going from one kid...
... to the other...
... and back again.
I barely have time to sleep. VJ and I are starting to miss each other.
VJ is pushing toward another promotion at work so he's really been bulking up. I think he's even got another opportunity to be an exercise test subject. It gives him a lot of motivation to get up and work out before work.
I love taking care of the kids, but I have to admit that I was going a little stir crazy after back to back pregnancies!
Neli and I talked it over one evening over breakfast and decided that we should go on an outing. I called for a sitter to stay with Fiona since she was way too little to take out on the town.
The agency sent over Terrance. I chatted with him for awhile to see if I'd feel comfortable leaving Fi with him. He seems like a very nice, responsible young man.
Since it was too dark to go to the park, Neli and I headed to one of my favorite places in town... the Library!
Neli immediately made herself right at home. That's my girl!
I decided to work on my Romance novel while I had the chance, I'm almost 3/4 done now so a couple of more sessions should do it. The publisher still likes it, too.
I love that the Library has a children's room. Neli and I both had a great time on our excursion.
Meanwhile, Fiona and Terrance were getting along famously. I think she really likes him.
In all of the excitement, we completely forgot about VJ's birthday! He became an official adult all alone on a dark sidewalk.
I'm glad that VJ didn't mind, though. He spent an enjoyable time reading quietly before heading home to the chaos.
When he got home that morning, VJ showed off his new muscles and told me that he'd gotten his promotion to Con Artist! He can now officially begin his evil career track.
To celebrate, we danced! We even had a little extra musical accompaniment and an audience.

A/N: Lots of changes going on in VJ's career, I guess I'll have to figure out the evil track now. Trixi is going to age up again pretty soon so I'd better get to work on her LTW! I hadn't realized the age difference between them was so large... she was totally robbing the cradle when she decided to get together with him.

Gen 1 Chapter 12: Remodel fever
Trixi here!
With all of the changes around here, VJ and I decided it was time to buy a car. We've saved up enough from raises and bonuses (not to mention my royalties), to afford a cute little wagon. It's perfect for our growing family.
We also thought that we should remodel the house a bit, considering our growing family. We converted the big office into a master bedroom and took space from that and the kitchen to create a smaller office. I really need somewhere to do my writing, so I'm glad we were able to keep that in the plans.
Here is a picture of the remodel in progress... you can see how we also made the living area smaller and are adding a second floor. VJ wanted a large party space, so we increased the deck space off of the living room. I wanted a smaller, quieter outside space so we kept a smaller private deck off of the master bedroom.
I also wanted Neli to have a place to play so we took some of the original deck out to give her an actual yard. I even splurged on a jungle gym, even though she's too young to actually use it yet! We ran out of money before finishing the second floor, but it's still a fine place to put the kids cribs and toys so I'm not too worried about it. I think this house will meet our needs for a long time now.
Living in a construction zone was stressful, though, especially with a toddler and a new baby on the way. VJ was lucky that he got to get out of the house and go to work!
Still, I wouldn't trade this time home with Neli for anything. She's changing so much so fast... seems like just yesterday she was a tiny baby!
I'm a little worried that Neli will get lost in the chaos of the remodel and a new baby coming, so I'm trying to spend as much time as possible focusing on her. We spent a whole night just learning words! She's so smart.
Learning to talk has turned Neli into quite a little chatterbox. I love when she tells me stories.
Meanwhile, VJ has discovered that he loves having kids' toys around! He takes "childish" very seriously.
Once Neli learned to talk, I quickly decided to get her walking. I figured it'd be much harder to put in the time once the baby arrived. Lucky for me, Neli is a fast learner!
I just can't help but love the little family we're creating. Neli and I have gotten into the habit of following VJ's schedule, which means that we're up all night and sleep all day! I suppose that will have to change once I go back to work and the kids start school, but I'm not going to worry about that now. Especially since it gives us more time together as a family.
VJ has been getting some great opportunities at work, too! He think he's close to getting a promotion so he's been showing the boss how flexible he can be, For instance, on this night, he got the opportunity to stay late and help count the day's take! I'm so happy that they trust him with something so important. Of course, it means that I get to deal with the cranky, just-woke-up toddler all on my own.
Lucky for me, Neli calms down quickly once her diaper gets changed! She really is pretty easy going. I really enjoy those early "morning" moments were we just snuggle and play until we're both ready to face the day.
Now, we'll just head on down for some breakfast and I'll finally take that shower I've been putting off...
Uh-oh.
