Gen 1 Chapter 5: Romance at last!

Trixi here!

Have I mentioned how much I like to read?

Life has been pretty boring lately. I hardly have time to do much more than go to work, eat and sleep! I've even been neglecting my writing and my painting.

In an effort to mix things up a little, I decided to go to the library after work one night. I usually end up reading at home, anyway, and this way I could find some new books! It worked out great and I was able to finish reading another book... that makes eleven!

I decided that I'd better work a little on "Bite Me" after work, too. I didn't get much done before heading to bed, but every little bit helps.

I had to get the dishwasher repaired, again. I swear that thing isn't work the money I spent on it! The repair man had a cute butt, though...

I suddenly decided that I needed to talk to VJ... and I've never even met him before! Have you ever seen "Practical Magic"? There's a part in there where Sally just has to run to town and meet her future husband... it was very much like that. I had no idea where VJ lived to worked, but I decided on a whim to look for him at the park. Sure enough, there he was!

We hit it off right away! I wanted to ask him his sign and found out that he's a Gemini (which is compatible with my Sagittarius!).

We talked for hours. I found out that he works at my favorite bookstore! Small world, eh? It's so nice to chat with someone who loves books as much as I do.

After getting to know each other a little more (I found out that he can be a bit of a snob...), I plucked up the courage to ask him if he's seeing anyone. Guess what... he's single! Could he be any more perfect for me? I hope we can become good friends. (And maybe more???)

I had to head off to work all too soon... I considered blowing off work to stay with VJ, but I really can't afford to put my job in jeopardy. The next morning, I worked on my cooking skills by making pancakes... check out this flip!

I was in the mood for some fun so I decided to watch my favorite channel on tv... the cooking channel, of course! Two birds with one stone, you know.

It worked out great, too. When I got to work that afternoon I was promoted to Ingredient Taster! It came with a nice bonus and everything.

After work, I spend another evening in the library. I love being surrounded by all of those books.

I settled in for some quality reading and was thrilled to realize that I've now read twelve books! I'm considering going for 20, but I'm not sure. I've already read all of the books I have at home so it would mean trips to the book store or library on a regular basis. Not that I would mind that.

I've been neglecting my painting practice long enough so I made sure to put in a little canvas time. I think I'm getting better, but I still have a long way to go! I've made a goal of working on that more regularly.

*********
A/N: Kind of a boring chapter, but I think she's in for some excitement now that she's rolling more social wishes. I had to give up on Dustin and ditch her wish to become good friends with him. I just couldn't get him to come over, which had to be some kind of glitch, and he wouldn't hang around her long enough to get the interactions when she visited him. Maybe things will go better with VJ- who really was out of the blue. She rolled a wish to chat with him and he wasn't even in her acquaintances list! It was also weird that he was just standing there in the park waiting for her.

Gen 1 Chapter 4: Write Cook Read

Trixi here!

I've got big news this time... I finished my second novel!!! It's a Sci-Fi story called "Clipped Armor" and one of the reviewers called it a "tour de force"! The publisher is going to send me even more in royalties now, which is great. I could totally get used to this. Maybe some day I'll be able to support myself as an author. I've decided that I should write a bestseller so I started another book... this time, it's a trashy novel called "Bite Me" .

In the morning, I invited Dustin over. He said he'd come but then called a few minutes later to say that something had come up and he couldn't make it. I'm beginning to wonder if it's worth it to try and become good friends with him! He certainly doesn't seem overly interested. In my spare time, I read a new book (that makes 10!). This one is all about Handiness.

I was so inspired that I decided to run out to the bookstore and buy another book on Handiness. Of course, I couldn't wait to start reading so I sat down on a bench right outside of the book store again.

I was so engrossed in my book that I didn't even notice the cute police officer who sat down next to me.

The cop got up to argue with some woman, but I don't know why they were so upset. Dustin showed up at the bookstore, too, but we had to head off to work before I got a chance to chat with him.

I'm doing well at the diner and even got promoted to Vegetable Slicer. Unfortunately, I also hate my job. I get so stressed while I'm there. Jared-the-Jerk gave me an extra assignment the other night when the dishwasher broke. I had to lug a bunch of dishes home with me and wash them there! I wonder if working at the Bistro would be any better?

As soon as I got home, I decided to get the dish washing out of the way. I'm not going to fail another assignment from the boss!

Once I was done, I sat down to read.

This morning, I realized that it's been ages since I've talked to my friend, Simis. I called and invited him over so that we wouldn't be too distant of friends. While I waited for him, I read of course!

I was surprised when Simis arrived to see that he's now an elder! I hadn't realized that I'd missed his birthday. We had a great time talking and catching up.

Simis was my first friend in town and he always manages to crack me up and lift my mood.

He even talked me into dancing with him for awhile! I really should make sure we keep in touch more often.

With as much fun as we were having, I was sad when I had to leave to go to work. I can't wait until I can quit my job and make a living as a writer! My boss was very pleased with the job I did on the dishes, though, and even more impressed when I improved upon one of our recipes. He even gave me a raise! After work, I decided to make another attempt at becoming good friends with Dustin so I headed over to his house. Our chat was going well, but he quickly decided to head off to bed.

The night wasn't a complete waste, though. I ran into Kaylynn and she raved about"Clipped Armor"! It was so exciting to talk to someone who had read my book and loved it!

************
A/N: Seriously, Trixi keeps inviting Dustin over and he keeps calling back to say that something came up... between that and his disappearing act from the last time, I'm beginning to wonder if there isn't a glitch going on here. It's taking FOREVER to try and get them to the "good friends" stage since I can hardly get them into the same place at the same time for more than a quick chat. And she's still pretty much only wanting to read whenever she gets the chance.

Gen 1 Chapter 3: Making friends- Fail.

Trixi here!

Where was I? Oh, yeah! My boss wanted me to make friends. I was having a hard time finding time to chat with Dustin at work and I couldn't convince him to come over to my house, so I decided to visit him at home one night after work.

We had a great time chatting, even though we were both exhausted from working all evening. Unfortunately, we didn't become "friends" officially until about 10 minutes after the arbitrary deadline Jared-the-Jerk had imposed so I failed to meet my boss' requirements. I can't be too sad, though, since I did make a friend. I found out that Dustin is in a relationship with Iliana, too, but I'm not sure I think about that just yet. I decided that I should work on being "good friends" with Dustin since things are going so well.

It was getting late and Dustin and his roommates had already gone to bed so I headed home. But first, I thought I would stand around on their front porch reading for awhile. I love to read.

Once I got home, I was so hungry that I just had to get something to eat heading to bed! I didn't end up going to sleep until after the sun was already coming up! It's a good thing I had the next day off.

I decided that I should have some fun on my day off... fun that didn't involve writing or painting, anyway. I headed over to the theater to take in a show. I noticed one of my coworkers there, too, but she headed into the theater before I had a chance to talk to her.

After the show, I went to work on my friendship with Dustin some more. There was always so much going on at his house that I was sure I'd find something fun to do. I met one of his roommates outside (I think his name is Parker), but decided to move on after just a quick introduction.

I talked to Kaylynn for awhile. She seems very nice and chats with me every time I visit.

I went looking for Dustin and found him arguing with his girlfriend! (For some reason, this made me a little happy.) After Iliana stalked off, I gave Dustin a hug to cheer him up. We were able to chat for awhile, until I got so hungry that I had to go home for some dinner.

I invited Dustin over to my house and he said he'd come, but he must have gotten lost along the way because he never did show up. While I waited, I did some reading. I'm working my way through my whole library!

I've been working on my writing, too. I'm about halfway through my second novel. The publisher likes the chapters I've sent in so far!

I decided to take it easy on my next day off. I watched my favorite cooking show to learn some new skills for my job.

And I read, of course.

And read. I've read 8 books in the last couple of weeks! Maybe I'll try for 12 next...

I read so long that I forgot to eat. By the time I finished my book, I was starving!

Inspired by my cooking show, I tried making a new carbonara recipe... as you can see, the results were not great. It's my first official food disaster but I ate it anyway. Blech.

*************
A/N: I'm not sure what happened to Dustin... she invited him over, he accepted, they rode in the cab together and he just disappeared! He's not making it very easy to become good friends. But at least she's rolling some social wishes now!

Gen 1 Chapter 2: Cooking up a job

Trixi here!

Have I mentioned how much I like reading? Seriously, I could do it all day, every day, and be perfectly happy. As soon as I finish one book, I'm itching to start another one. I just can't get enough reading.

Unfortunately, reading doesn't pay the bills. And writing hasn't really started paying them, either. After a few unexpected expenses, like appliance repairs, I decided that it was time to get a paying job!

I love cooking and becoming a chef sounded pretty interesting so I checked the online job listings. I was lucky enough to find an opening as a kitchen scullion! I'm working swing shift at Hogan's Diner... it's a bit of a dive, but the people I work with seem nice.

I figured that I should work on my cooking skills at home, too. I have some natural ability in the kitchen, which helped me learn the ropes fairly quickly. Between working hard at the diner and practicing at home, I was able to convince my boss to promote me to Spice Hunter. I'm hoping to learn a few new recipes now!

And I finished my novel! I even sold "Fifty Ways" to a publisher and will get royalties for it! It's not much, but bonus money coming in for a few weeks is all good. I'm thinking about writing something Sci-Fi next... even if it does make me bang my head against the keyboard in frustration occasionally.

Since I'm a published author now, I figured I'd better spend some time concentrating on my painting skills. I decided to take a class at the school on my day off to help get me with the more technical aspects of painting.

After class, I didn't have anywhere to be so I took a trip to the bookstore to look for a new cook book. I was so excited about it that I sat down right outside of the shop and started to read. Have I mentioned how much I like to read?

I even ran into my boss, Jared, just outside of the bookstore. Unfortunately, I think I said the wrong thing because the conversation did not go well. I was so humiliated!

Luckily, I was able to make a new friend after the horrible encounter with Jared. Simis is super nice and we've chatted a few times since then. I think we might eventually become good friends! He's a blogger, too!

I think that the art class really helped me with my painting. I can see improvement every time I pick up a brush and was even able to sell one of my paintings for $6!

I like to read. All. The. Time.

My boss (Jared the Jerk!) decided that I should socialize more with my co-workers so he told me to become friends with some of them. I'm not sure what business it is of his, but I can't afford to lose my job and I certainly don't want the boss to dislike me any more than he already does. So I went over to Dustin's house to visit him one day before work.

There were a lot of people at his house and I'm still not sure whether they are family, roommates or friends, but everyone seemed very nice. I had a lot of fun chatting with them until it was time for Dustin and I to head to work.

I hope Dustin and I can become friends... not just because it will apparently help with my job, but because I need more friends!

**************
A/N: Seriously, she reads all the time and has no wishes to ever met or socialize with people! How is the next generation going to happen if she just stays home reading, writing and painting?!?!

Gen 1 Chapter 1: Introductions

Hi! I'm Beatrix Hodgins! My friends sometimes call me Trixi. They also call me a hopeless romantic, but I like to think of myself as hopeful!

I'm just starting out on my own and have decided to be a writer. Not just any write, of course, an "illustrious author"! To that end, I've moved into a beach front bungalow to eek out a living as a starving writer. Maybe I should take up drinking, too... isn't that what all of the tortured artists do?

My new house is much bigger than I need, but I'm hoping to have a family one day and it will be easy to remodel it to add extra rooms!

I've alwasy been a bit of a bookwork, which I suppose goes well with my interest in writing. I am constantly in search of new books to read and can think of no better way to pass the day than curled up with a good book.

In order to fulfull my wish to become an illustrious author, I'm learning how to paint. It's not really my strong suit, but I can almost paint things that are recognizable now so I think I'll eventually gain some skill as an painter.

I'm hard at work on my first novel. I call it "Fifty Ways".

I'm a Sagittarius, if you're into that kind of thing. I love to cook but tend to be a little clumsy outside of the kitchen! I hope you stop by my story again...

*************
A/N: I cheated (just a little) and moved my new character in with my "test run" family... then I used their money to rebuild the house and moved them all out. Not sure if that's exactly following the rules but I'm not using any of the extra money for living expenses, I just got her a free house! So she's starting out with around $15,000 of her own money.

29 March 2011

Started!

Today, I created my official Wishacy Sim and built her a house. It's accidentally a gigantic house since it's been a really long time since I've done the building thing and my proportions were all off. It's also not a very exciting house, Hubby's always been better at building the cool and creative houses than I have... I usually just want to get to the playing. Unfortunately, I ran out of time to actually play the game, so any real Wishacy posts will have to wait.

Don't hold your breath, it was a month between Simming sessions this last time! Still, it's a start!
